Todd and I are the luckiest parents in the world to have Collin and Lily in our lives. God has blessed us with two amazing (and sometimes very challenging) children. I can't imagine my life without them. We just had our latest addition, Lily Elizabeth, on September 19, 2008. She weighed 8.1 and was 20 inches long. She is already 6 weeks old now and growing like a weed. She has a full head of dark hair. Quite the opposite from our little blonde guy, Collin.
It started out a little rough with Lily because she never seemed to be comfortable. She was always fussy and spitting up. We took her to see a specialist and realized that she had a milk allergy and a bad case of reflux. We have her on a special formula (which breaks the bank) and two reflux medicines. We have noticed a HUGE difference in her personality. She is such a different baby and seems happy most of the time...that is unless she is hungry, wet or tired : ) She is sleeping thought most of the night now. She can go about 7 hours during the night which has been a blessing for me. I need to reserve my energy for her active brother.
Collin has been a great big brother! He likes to help out and bring her pacifier to us. We usually have to wash it first though because his fingers have been up his nose a lot lately since he has discovered the holes in his nose. Gross, I know, but what do you expect...he's two! He always has a close eye on Lily, but not as close as I do on him. I can't leave him alone for a second because he loves her a little bit too much. He likes to try and give her food and really firm hugs. I had to dig chicken nuggets out of her mouth the other day. I had literally just walked to the kitchen to look at something and saw Collin standing by her swing. I ran over to the swing and realized he had crammed food in her mouth. Not good for a 1-month old baby with no teeth. The thing I have to remind myself is he is two. He's trying to help, but he doesn't realize his strength and that he can hurt her.
Life is definitely busier with two! It makes you have a greater appreciation for your parents and what hey went through. Of course, from everything I'm told, I was a perfect angel : ) Collin has entered the "terrible twos" stage. I believe his induction date was October 2, 2008...the day he turned two. He has the sweetest little personality, but it can turn faster than you can say Collin. He does all kinds of tricks like throwing himself on the floor and screaming at the top of his lungs. Todd and I have just been trying to ignore his fits. It seems to help because he will eventually just give up. One of the hardest things I have found is to try and get anywhere on time. There is so much to do before you leave the house with two kids like pack enough diapers, snacks, bottles, make sure they are both dressed with clean diapers, etc. I was so proud of myself to get Collin to his mother's day out on time today. Maybe I'm finally getting in the groove of things.
