7 years and counting

The pretty flower arrangement Todd got me for our anniversary

Todd and I just celebrated our 7 year anniversary on August 16th.  We hired a babysitter and went out on the town last weekend.  It was our first date night since being here in Katy.  We just can't believe how fast the time has gone.  It seems like yesterday when we were planning our wedding and here we are 7 years later, living in Katy, with 2 children.  We truly feel blessed!!

Lily is a monkey

Lily wearing the adorable dress that Nana made her

Playing after bath.  Notice the white gums...her 2-yr molars are starting to come in.

Lily has always been extremely flexible. She is always doing her baby yoga poses and loves sitting in the floor in the splits while she plays with her toys. Now, she likes to climb my elliptical and hang from the bars. To make matters worse, I caught her hanging off of the rail to our staircase today. I have been real relaxed about leaving the safety gates open to our staircase, but I've realized now that I have to make sure that the gate is always closed. She climbed out of her crib for the first time on Saturday. I was downstairs when she was supposed to be napping when I heard a loud thud followed by crying. She was okay, but I think that it scared her more than anything. I bought her bed rails today for her "big" girl bed, but I think I'm going to keep her in her crib until she tries to climb out one more time. Otherwise, I don't think she would stay in her room. She's too busy!

Funny things that Collin says...

Having a soon to be 4-yr old means that there is never a dull moment in any conversation. We were driving down the road the other day and Collin said, "When I get older the bank will give me lots of money so I can buy new toys." I cracked up, but he was really being genuine because he said that he wanted to donate his to children who need them. He also asks a lot of "how" and "why" questions. Our babysitter told us the other night that she has never met a kid that asks SO many questions. He's very curious. Speaking of curious, he asked me why Curious George was a monkey. When I responded that "he just is," he wanted to know "why." He also wants to know every day why mosquitoes eat blood. I don't really have a good answer for these questions. (sidenote to mom) Mom, I'm sure you're enjoying this right now because I know you said that I was the same way when I was little. I guess that's why I'm so smart : )

In Katy, TX.

A picture of all of the boxes and paper after unpacking the kitchen.  This is just one corner.  You should have seen all of the trash.  It was out of control!

Sorry for the long delay in posting. I'm sure I'm really only apologizing to the grandmothers and two friends that keep up with us via our blog : ) For those of you that weren't aware...we were relocated for Todd's job. Well, we are officially residents of Katy, TX. now. We made the move in the middle of June and have been busy ever since just trying to get everything ready with our house. We lived in corporate housing for a little over a month until our house was ready.  We decided to add our own personal touch with new paint and carpet.  We love our neighborhood! There are a lot of great parks and community pools/waterparks for the kiddos. Of course, we are still trying to adjust to the humidity here. At first I didn't see what the big deal was and why everyone always asked me what I thought of the humidity here. Okay...now I totally get it! It's like a sauna here. It can be so steamy at times!

The kids have adjusted a lot better than I thought they would. I think the first couple of weeks in the apartment were a little rough because we didn't have any of our furniture and only had a few toys. All the rest of our things were in storage. Now that we are in our house with our things they're doing great! We have a pool and they LOVE swimming in it. They are like little fish. They never want to get out and neither one of them have any fear of the water. It actually worries me because they don't know the risk involved. We had a new childproof fence installed around the pool as a precaution. Collin has taken swim lessons every day for the last 4 weeks straight. This week he will start going 2 times a week. I just want him to be familiar with the water and learn the proper way to swim just in case he ever managed to fall in. I'm going to sign Lily up as well when she is a little older.

I will try to provide more updates soon. I hope you are all enjoying your summer - what's left of it : )
